A device that has everyone talking at CommunicAsia 2010 is a new camera / smartphone, the Altek Leo. It looks like a camera and it’s a much better camera spec than in any other smartphone but you can actually make calls as well and it’s positioned as a smartphone. ALtek is claiming it as “the world’s first 3.5G professional camera smartphone.”
The device runs on Android 2.1. It has a 14-megapixel CCD which although standard for a standalone camera, it’s much better than the average camera within a smartphone. It also supports HD video and has a 3 x extendable, optical zoom lens and xenon flash.
The Altek Leo will be released in Asia later this year at around US$499.
