Canon are launching 4 new point-and-shoot cameras this year that are all under $US200. The new models were unveiled at the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) currently taking place in Las Vegas.
The new entry level camera models are the A3100 IS, A3000 IS, A495 and A490.
All the new cameras have new functions including a low-light control, a “Super Vivid” scene mode that modifies an image’s hue and saturation, and the ability to upload images and video clips directly to YouTube. They also feature Canon’s Smart FE mode which enhances image quality by automatically selecting the right amount of flash, aperture, shutter speed and ISO.
The A3000 IS has 10-megapixel resolution, 4x optical zoom, a 2.7-inch LCD screen and optical image stabilisation.
The A3100 IS is similar but with a 12-megapixel resolution. Both the A3000 IS and the A3100 IS run on rechargeable lithium-ion battery packs.
The A495 and A490 are 10 megapixel cameras with no image stabilization. They run on AA batteries.
