Uniden’s Trax 5000 in-car GPS system has received an award in the Australian InCar Magazine’s 2010 awards. The latest Trax 5000 was awarded highly commended in the “Portable GPS of the Year” category.
The Trax 5000 has recently had a makeover and praise came for the large, clear screen. The new design includes this 5″ flat panel, non-reflective touchscreen which is bright and sharp. The menus are clear and easy to read making navigation easier.
Other features include 3D mapping technology and the latest Where-Is mapping data covering 99% of the Australian population. The Trax 5000 also features lane guidance and text to speech directions (albeit in an American accent).
The Trax 5000 is priced at the lower end of GPS systems. In order to offer such a large screen and keep the price so low there are some missing features commonly found in more expensive car GPS models such as traffic updates, bluetooth and MP3 player. However, for the core navigation features it’s a good system at a great price.
